Every year for my son’s birthday we would have a small party at our house. It was always nice but it was also crowded and pretty stressful. As a Mom, who always wants everything to be perfect, I would spend weeks planning activities for the kids, food options that went with the theme for the kids (and the adults), and then the day of the party stress over being the perfect hostess.
This year I asked my son, who was turning 4, what he wanted to do for his birthday party. He said he wanted to go to the Giggle Box. The Giggle Box is an indoor playground that we go to often. It is a safe air conditioned environment that he gets to play with his friends, while I get to sit and relax with my friends (the moms) and have adult conversations. I thought it was a great idea!
The Giggle Box is closed on Sundays for private parties; which is great because our party did not get lost in a huge crowd. This was important to me since most of the kids were 5 and under. The Giggle Box has different packages that you can order depending on the level of involvement you want to be a part of. They can do the decorations, the food, the party favors and even give you contacts for outside entertainment if that’s what you want.
I got to the Giggle Box a half an hour early to help setup and organize; but besides setting up the cupcakes and putting up balloons there was not much to do. The Giggle Box staff had everything under control. When the guests started to arrive they were welcomed by an employee at the door explaining where to put their shoes and the gifts. They also had the guests sign a guest book for my son. The kids had so much fun playing that I actually got to talk to the parents and relax. They even had football on the flat screen TV’s for the Dad’s that wanted to watch.
When it came time to eat, Jennifer (the owner) had the kids line up and tell her what pizza they wanted and served them. She helped me with time management having the kids play more before she served the cupcakes. This was the most stress free party I’ve ever thrown. Everyone had fun, especially my son, who loves going to the Giggle Box with his friends. I loved it because I could enjoy seeing how happy my son was while relaxing with the other parents.
